Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts”

Marcus Aurelius

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours are all connected. It's a practical approach that prioritises current issues rather than dwelling too much on the past.

CBT is used extensively by the NHS and recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) for various emotional and psychological problems.

It is a highly effective treatment for a wide range of problems

Anger Management

CBT can help you to learn & recognise the signs that you are becoming angry, and taking learn action to calm down and deal with the situation in a productive way.

Anxiety Disorders

Do you feel nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worry?  This could be anxiety.  Anxiety comes in many forms including panic and phobias.

Stress

Stress comes in many forms, an emotional strain or tension that may result from demanding circumstances in your personal or work life.

My expertise lies in a specific type of CBT called Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). Developed by psychologist Albert Ellis in the 1950s, REBT operates on the idea that our irrational beliefs and thought patterns can lead to emotional distress and unhelpful behaviours.

REBT emphasises emotional responsibility, echoing the words of the stoic philosopher Epictetus who realised 'People are not disturbed by things, but the view they take of them'.

Our collaboration is centered on addressing life difficulties effectively. REBT offers a structured, educational goal-oriented approach that empowers you to manage your emotions and behaviour.
